Buddist Tours

India is the birth place of Buddism. It is but natural that if one has to follow the steps of the Buddha, one would definitely turn to India. Our Buddist tours do just that.

Gaya, is where prince Siddhartha attained enlightenment, under a Bodhi tree. It is a holy piligrimage destination for any Buddist. It is a place extremely revered and sacred. Emperor Ashoka, a follower of Buddism, non violence and peace is said to have built the Mahabodhi temple here. It dates back to the before Christ period. Lumbini, Sarnath are other important places in relation to the life of Lord Buddha.

The Sanchi stupa, in Madhya Pradesh, built by Emperor Ashoka stands as a base for the Indian Emblem. This is another sacred place of worship for Buddists. India has a large number of monasteries in the Himalayan region, the most popular being the Dharamsala monastery. It is also the seat of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama the 14th in India. McLeodganj is another important Buddist  site in Himachal Pradesh. There are many monasteries all over India, specially in Ladakh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh and Arunachal pradesh.. The Namdroling at Bylakuppe near Coorg in Karnataka, is tiny little Tibetian settlement and monastery.

India's rich Buddist heritage and art can be found intact in the cave paintings of Ajanta and Ellora. In fact, so deep is India's association with Buddism that the Jataka tales (ancient stories about the life of Lord Buddha) are very popular here and are taught to little children in schools, as a part of their moral education.

To truly experience the wisdom of Buddism, a trip to India's Buddist locations is a must. Aum Mani Padme Hum, the chant, resonates here. Come home to Buddha, come home to India.
