It is also the home of the one horned rhino. The Jim Corbett national park, popularised by the legendary Jim Corbett, lets you say your how-do-you-do to the Indian Tigers at Uttarkhand. You have to see the Bengal Tiger – stripped black in gold, to know how powerful and majestic it looks, at the Sunderbans. There are two important elephant corridors of India, one in the Gangetic plains in the north and the other, in the Cauvery belt in the south. The Periyar Sanctuary, Anaimalai and Mudumalai  Bandipur, Nagarhole forest ranges in south India are known for the Indian Elephants and Tigers. The Great Indian Gaur, Sambar, Deer, Black Bucks, Leopards, the Indian peacock, Cobras – well, the list is a long one – but in short, India is heaven for the wild life enthusiast!

There are many government and private jungle lodges, jungle safaris, tree-top-houses, houses on stilts and make-shacks – at most of the sanctuaries and forests to enable the wild life enthusiast to have a safe and comfortable journey.
